How it happened!

During our visit to Mae Sot on the Thai Burma border during the Christmas holidays in 2011 we were approached by our friend 'Big' to visit an area he felt needed a school. We visited the area with Big and his friend Eh Chris (plus the armed guard) and discussed their plans to set up a school for the children near Blah Toh village. We agreed to fund the costs of setting up the school so that it would be ready for the new school year in May 2012. They spoke to the head villager and it was decided to locate the school in the actual village rather than the previously chosen location. Since then, Big, Eh Chris and the villagers have been busy preparing the site and organising the building materials. We have since discussed the running costs of the school and agreed to fund the school for the coming school year.

Collecting the Wood

Work on the school started in January 2012.
Firstly, the trees were cut down and moved to an area by an elephant and a tractor to be milled.
